Review: Saatchi Suite, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill

It’s not a big deal to see art in hotels. But imagine sleeping in a room that’s been decorated with art from the Saatchi Gallery. Art that only available for viewing for guests of the Saatchi Suite. You can experience the Saatchi Suite at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill.

This is a phenomenal suite experience that’s not to be missed! And well worth using a Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrade.

The Suite Life in the Saatchi Suite

I chose the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill because:

The hotel is a Hyatt property and I would get a stay creditComplimentary Wi-FiComplimentary access to Hyatt Regency Club Lounge as a Hyatt Diamond memberGreat location

Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill is gorgeous outside and inside

TheHyatt Regency London – The Churchill is in the West End of London near Oxford Street and Hyde Park. A great location if you love to shop. And a short walk to the Marble Arch Tube station to visit other attractions.

Airport Shuttle

The Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill does not offer an airport shuttle.

The Heathrow Airport is 15 miles away.  And the Gatwick Airport is 30 miles away.

You can take the Heathrow Express to Paddington station and then Uber to the hotel.

Tip: Uber is a LOT cheaper than a taxi.

If you buy your tickets 14 days or more in advance you’ll save about 75% on your Heathrow Express ticket. Because I didn’t book a Heathrow Express ticket in advance it would have cost £35 (ticket plus taxi)

Or you can Uber or arrange a pickup from the airport directly to the hotel. I arranged a pickup with 247 Airport Transfer for £41 ($58).

Graphic art adorns the walls in the Saatchi Suite

The hotel has a 3 p.m. check-in but is flexible even if you aren’t a Hyatt Diamond member. As a Hyatt Diamond you can check in early in the morning, if there’s a room available.

I booked a King room for my stay and used a Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrade to confirm to a Regency Suite King.

Check-in was very quick and easy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I can’t find my notes but if my memory serves me correctly, Violet checked me in.

Hyatt Diamonds are acknowledged, recognized and benefits are explained, including access to the Hyatt Regency Club Lounge on the 8th floor.

The room that they had booked for me wasn’t ready so Violet said, “Let’s see if we can find you a nice room.”

Next thing I know we were headed to the Saatchi Suite!

A Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrade normally gets you a Regency Suite but I got very lucky. 🙂

Saatchi Suite

Retro Scandinavian design Saatchi Suite

The Saatchi Suite is the only Suite at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill that is decorated by the Saatchi Gallery. And there is only one Saatchi Suite. So I was pretty excited to be able to stay in the Saatchi Suite.

During my stay the work of graphic artist Dominic Beattie was featured in the Saatchi Suite.

As you enter the suite, there’s a table to your immediate right with three dishes of hard candy.

Stock up on candy on your way in or out

Guest Bathroom

And a small guest bathroom immediately across from the front door.

Living Room

Here’s another view of the living room.

Soft baby butt leather couch

The living room has a large flat screen wall mounted TV. And along the wall there was a 110 plug (always a plus when you’re from the US and have multiple electronics that need charging.).

Magazines and books to keep you occupied

You can keep up on the latest designer and fashion trends or read art books.

The Nespresso coffee maker and ice bucket were in the bar. Behind the doors were the minibar and fridge.

Plenty of options to stay hydrated

I wasn’t sure what the wood monkey was for other than decoration, but he was cute.

Curious George’s cousin?

This is the view from the bedroom window of the Saatchi Suite.

Love the mix of old and new buildings in London

The bed, while not a Hyatt Grand Bed, was “sink in and drift away to dreamland” comfortable.

Plush pillows and comforter = sleep in enticement

The bedroom in the Saatchi Suite was spacious. You could walk around the bed without hitting the corners, dresser, or another person.

And there was even a cute heart-shaped chair.

Loved this heart-shaped chair

This is one of the funkiest hotel room bathrooms you’ll ever stay in. Most of the walls are covered in soap.

Yes, you read that right. The walls are covered in blocks of soap. And the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill encourages you to carve and otherwise deface the walls of your bathroom!

No need to call housekeeping, just pull a chunk of soap off the wall

I love having a separate shower and tub. Especially if you’re traveling with someone else. Two people can get ready at the same time.

Separate shower

I love my Toto washlet, similar concept to a bidet but part of the toilet seat. But I can never seem to figure out a bidet.

The bathroom included a bidet

The tub was skinny but deep enough for a nice soak.

Enjoy a hot bath after a rainy London day

Normally Hyatt Regency hotels use Portico toiletries. But the toiletries at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill are supplied by Molton Brown based in London.

I think it’s cool that The Churchill is supporting a local company.

Luxury toiletries compliments of Molton Brown

You won’t have to stand over the sink to do your hair or makeup, thanks to the granite vanity.

Business Center

There’s a business center in the Escape Bar. But I didn’t get a photo…

Fitness Center

The fitness center is on the 2nd floor and open 24 hours a day. Perfect if you’re jet-lagged.  But now you don’t have an excuse to skip your workout.

Workout any time of day

There is no parking, valet or self-parking at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. So you should not rent a car.

You can eat at one of three places at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill:

The MontaguThe Churchill Bar & TerraceLocanda Locatelli

This trip, I only ate in the Hyatt Regency Club Lounge. Stay tuned for a separate review of the Club Lounge.

Next time I hope to dine at the Michelin starred Locanda Locatelli.

The Saatchi Suite at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill was the coolest suite I’ve stayed in. I feel very honored that I was given a chance to stay in this suite. It was completely unexpected and a huge treat.

I love art and visiting museums. But when you stay in the Saatchi Suite, the art comes to you!

There were so many unique features of this suite from the artwork to the soap walls that it’s a definite must check out and stay in.

You can experience the Saatchi Suite, Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill by calling Hyatt and requesting that suite. Maybe you’ll get lucky to and get booked into it with a Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrade.

My next trip to London, I’ll stay at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill again. Maybe I’ll get lucky a second time. 🙂

Have you stayed in the Saatchi Suite? I’d love to hear your experiences.

What do you think about staying in a room where the wall decorations constantly change?
